Log aboard the thousand sunny

Who: The straw hat crew (if they want to join in) and Bianchi
What: Lessons on Seaking Charming
Where: On the main deck of the Thousand Sunny
When: Should have happened a while ago >_>
Why: Because Bianchi offered to remove her panties in front of Brooke which Brooke doesn't really care much about anymore.

Brooke was rather nervous.  He was surprised that he actually was nervous since it wasn't a feeling he exactly had very often given that he could sing in front of thousands of people and not be nervous or charge into battle without breaking a sweat.  Partly because I don't have any sweat he thought to himself trying to laugh at his own joke.  That was something that was bothering him quite a bit.  Whenever he even tried to laugh he started to forget what he was saying and it wasn't until someone pointed it out that he even noticed!  But this wasn't the time to worry about such things, what he really was nervous about was that it had been so long since he had taught anyone to sing.   In fact he wasn't sure if nervous was quite the right word since he also felt rather excited too.

He jumped up at the sound of the little boat tapping against the side of the ship.  He had almost forgotten that she was going to be arriving.  He lowered a step ladder and offered her his skeletal hand to pull he up onto the ship.  Trying his best to be polite to their new guest he straightened his hair and gave her his most winning grin saying, "Welcome aboard the Straw Hat Pirate's Ship, the Thousand Sunny!"

Bianchi allowed herself to be helped up, gripping one boney hand and swinging her feet over the side of the boat. She heafted her overnight duffel back over her shoulder and for the first time laid eyes on the skeleton who managed to move without muscle. It was an interesting sight indeed. She pushed her hair back and nodded at him, then looked around the boat. "It has quite a bit of character." She shifted her load and smiled at him, a slow smile that tipped just the corners of her lips up. "Is there a place where I might store my belongings until our training finishes?"

Brooke who had intended to rest his hand on the rail accidentally put another hole in the ship. This super human strength thing was starting to get rather irritating. Sure it was fun being able to juggle such heavy things like pianos but given the sheer amount of damage the ship (and himself for putting holes in the ship) were taking this was getting ridiculous. At least he hadn't thrown Bianchi through the air and into the crow's nest when trying to help her up. "This ship has seen a lot, if you'd like to store your luggage I'm certain that we can put you with the other ladies of our ship. I don't think they should mind too much." He said as he shook the splinters out from his bony hand.

Her eyes drifted down to the damage he'd inflicted on the well crafted wood of the ship. That was interesting. She shifted her hips and brushed some splinters from her own jeans. I will try not to intrude into their lives too much." She said pleasantly as though it was perfectly normal for a talking skeleton to punch holes in boats and well.. talk. "I appreciate you taking the time to teach me. If I can be of assistance I will do so."

"Oh I'm sure you'll get along with everyone just fine." Brooke said cheerily pulling a cup from his coat pocket and a pot from another. As he tried to take a sip he applied just the wrong amount of pressure and the cup shattered against his face causing tea to soak his suit. This was just not his day. "I would offer you some tea but it seems I've had a habit of breaking things lately. If it were not for the fact that Mr. Norland had gotten so good at fixing things all of a sudden I most likely would have lost my mind." Brooke said as he sighed. "But it's not problem to teach you, I love the thought of spreading my musical talents to the world!"

Her eyes again followed the shattering of porcelain and tea, she looked slightly wary of him at this point. "Perhaps you could show me to my quarters I could heat up some tea for us both." She suggested. "When were you willing to being instruction?" She reached forward and picked a large shard off the skeleton's waistcoat.

"Thank you." He said after she had removed one of the larger pieces from him. "Perhaps we should ask Mr. Wiggles if he'd be willing to make both of us some tea?" Brooke asked referring to Sanji. "Of course with the loss of his cooking skills he might end up burning the boiled water... Not to mention he banned me from stepping near his kitchen after I cooked fungus on a stick." Brooke then tried to brush off more of the shards but ended up yet again applying too much force and ripped a gash in his favorite suit. This really wasn't his day. "We may begin right now if you'd like but it would most likely be safer if we alerted the rest of the crew before we started."

She didn't reply to his thanks but not because she wasn't welcome. She was just quiet by nature. "I leave the specifics on the teaching in your capable..." she looked warily again at his hands "hands. I would like to finish sooner than later though, if at all possible. I have engagements that must be fulfilled eventually." Her eyes drifted again down the new tear in his jacket. She stepped closer, and she brushed the last shards from his jacket to save what was left of it.

REALLY long post of LONG and stuff

Brooke nodded his head in acknowledgement as she assisted him in removing shards from his coat. "Of course, I should have realized that you must be running a little late as it is. So let us begin at once!" Brooke exclaimed as he started to run to his room to fetch his violin. But then he thought better of it given what happened last time he tried to play, and he wasn't sure if Mr. Norland had lost his strange powers of fixing things yet. So instead he headed towards the side of the ship where Bianchi had first came aboard.

"Right. How much do you know about Sirens?" He asked not actually waiting for an answer. "You see this method of singing and the song we shall sing is much like that. It will drive the Sea Kings into madness and draw them towards us much like the sirens made sailors crash into the rocks from which they sang. However it requires an absolute focus to keep them from snapping out of it otherwise you might end up with drastic consequences." To accentuate his point on drastic he flailed his arms about a little.

"If sucessful we should have a sea king that is paralyzed from the haunting tunes. Note that I say one because summoning multiple sea kings with this song is highly dangerous and less likely to be in a transfixed state. At no time should this song be sung without a partner who can deal with the Sea Kings due to the fact that they will only stay charmed for as long as you are singing. Not to mention the fact that you must have an absolute focus it is unlikely that you'd be able to fight while singing this. Now that you know most of the safety precautions I shall explain the song in a little more detail. There are four parts to this song and all of them are very important... except maybe the last one which you should never use due to the dangerous nature of it." At this thought Brooke felt shivers go down his spine at the thought of the first time he had failed to sing this song properly.

"The first part of this song is what attracts the Sea Kings to your vicinity and that particular part is what requires the much higher notes. The second part is the part that actually charms the Sea Kings into a transfixed state of motionlessness. The third part and one of the most important is one that will drive them away in case you summoned more than you bargained for, you failed in charming them, or you simply landed in a nest of them and you'd like them to not eat you. Now as for the last part, this part enrages Sea Kings into a mad frenzy trying to kill anything and everything they can find. Such as oh I don't know, marines, pirates, young maidens, each other... anything really. The reason this particular tune is so dangerous is that you must either find a way to kill all the Sea Kings that you have enraged which is no easy feat when you have made them more angry and powerful, or the other alternitive is to sing the charming part AND the repelling one at the same time which is quite impossible for a human being which is why having a partner that knows the tunes with you is a good idea."

She followed him and then stopped again when he stopped, listening to his explanation with very little expression. She had a fantastic poker face. The duffle bounced against her hip and she let it drop to the floor of the ship for now. She settled a hand on her hip and as he finally finished she waited a moment or two longer to be certain he was done.

"This makes sense to me. And you'll teach me in sections?"

[identity profile] tapdancinskelly.livejournal.com 2009-04-27 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Correct. And since the one to drive them away is one of the most important and needed if you happen to screw up, we shall start with that." To try to match her blank expression he instinctively reached inside his coat pocket for another cup of tea and reamarkably kept it intact for a change. "And so we shall begin."

Brooke taught Bianchi the tune for hours going over each part carefully so there was little room for error. From the tune of summoning which was much like the sound of a thrashing wounded animal, or cries for help from a person under water, to the tune of repelling which had the sound of thunder on the sea, the cry of a sea gull, and a pitch that was too fine to be hearable to the human ear. The tune of charming was the most beautiful with notes used most in merfolk songs that made you imagine glowing coral, sunken treasure, and mermaids basking in the sun.

Throughout the lesson an occasional Sea King popped it's head up near the ship which Brooke used for examples on how it's done. While also repelling them the hell away right afterwords so the crew wouldn't notice and start trying to kill him for bringing them here.

"Well we have gone over the basics of the first three parts and you have shown some competance in being able to use them. We shall continue on another day. The tunes can always use some more practice due to the dangerous nature, and the tune of enragement is far too dangerous to start on day one."

Bianchi, for her part, was rather patient about repeating things for him. She played piano but she was not unaccustomed to vocals. She found the first section particularly ridiculous but seemed effective and she was not one to complain. She paid lazer-like attention to the sea kings, they were enormous, and in her mind she could already see the dishes she planned to use them in. It made bearing with the learning easier. The skeleton was patient, if a little overexciteable. By the end though her voice was sore she did not work it regularly.

She ran fingers over her throat lightly and sat back on a chair finally, her entire diaphragm ached. She wasn't a fantastic singer but she was passable. She could hit the notes, she was starting to get the hang of some of the tones. The thunderish one really took it's toll though that was the one that had strained her voice the most.

"I do not think..." she swallowed heavily, "I could do it today even if I had the drive." She admitted.

[identity profile] tapdancinskelly.livejournal.com 2009-04-27 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
Brooke glanced over at the slightly winded Bianchi and remembered he wasn't actually training one of his old bards but a normal human being, and he had gone on a little longer than he would have normally with them in such a tricky song.

"Oh I'm sorry! I forgot how straining it can be to sing these songs. Perhaps you should get some honey tea to help your throat and maybe some rest. I've been doing this so long I don't even remember what it's like to be tired! Y-... zzzZZZ" Brooke had been trying to laugh but lost his train of thought and thus his focus. When he lost his focus his reason for being awake failed him and he collapsed falling into a much needed sleep after trying to teach longer than he should have. Before he went completely asleep he pondered on maybe he should have helped Bianchi to her room but he figured if she really needed she could ask another crew member. With one final snort for good measure he slipped into unconsciousness.

She had been about to respond to the skeleton, when she heard a loud snore. Bianchi wasn't really sure what to do about that. She certainly wasn't going to be picking the skeleton up and taking him to... wherever skeleton bards slept. She laid a hand on his shoulder and said his name quietly. "Brooke the Bard?" Nope no response. She stood and ran a hand through her hair, glancing around to see if she could find anyone to help her. She turned and picked back up her duffel bag and headed toward the first door she saw, hoping Brooke would be all right where she'd left him. She really could use some tea and honey right now.

THE END!
