The Boredom Song

As I sit here drinking my tea after visiting an island with my Straw Hat companions, I find that I have become incredibly bored. Naturally I could do the typical thing like chores around the ship, but I really had my heart set on doing my job as the Bard, and writing a new song for everyone to sing. Of course then I ran into the dreaded problem of all creative geniuses... writers block. Sitting there in front of that blank piece of paper for hours not able to think of where to start, what to start, or how to start it, I was slowly losing my mind. Then it hit me like a bolt of lightening. Why not write about how very bored I truly feel right now? So without further ado, I give you my one and only Boredom song.

Let’s all sing the Boredom song!

I am BORED!

Oh I am bored, so boring, soaring, bored,
I wish I could fall on to my sword,
The boredom is closing in,
I’m so bored it could be a sin,

I am BORED!

When I don’t know what to do,
I start chewing on me or you,
I bash my head against the wall,
But that is certainly not all!

I am BORED!

There’s so much time and nothing to do,
Except for singing a boredom song for me and my crew,
So let’s sing and dance all around the ship
Before boredom makes my poor brain rip!

I am BORED!

Oh I am bored, so boring, soaring, bored,
I wish I could fall on to my sword,
The boredom is closing in,
I’m so bored it could be a sin,

I am BORED!

Bored, bored, bored, bored,
Bored, bored, bored, bored,
Bored, bored, bored, bored,

YES I AM BOOOOOOOOOORED!!!!

Wasn't that fun everyone? Now that I've expressed my feelings about this in song (lyrics), let me ask you, what do you do when you have writers block and have become so very bored? And lastly, since I'm having so much trouble whipping my creative muse back into shape, I will now accept requests for songs! Comical, romantic, tragic, beautiful, scary, exciting, rock and roll, the works! The more requests I have the more songs I can think about producing!

Well I suppose I shall keep my violin out of the fight, as long as you promise not to go near the afro. Yohohoho!

I was always a little curious about your technique. It seems completely impractical to use three swords.

You've got yourself a deal.

Impractical? What, like hard to control?

Well yes... I mean... first off with the sword in your mouth it get's in the way of any swings you try to make with your right hand which I assume you are right handed. Then there's the matter of how do you even manage to hit anyone with the sword you keep in your mouth? Wouldn't you leave your head vulnerable with any attack you made? Also you don't get the mobility needed since you have to swing your neck everywhere in order to move it... It just seems all rather... impractical.

I'm left-handed. And eh, it works. I've been creating and perfecting Santouryuu since I was ten, I know how to keep the swords from clashing, and compensate for the lack of reach from my mouth...Mm, being able to cut air helps with that now, but even before I could do that it wasn't an issue.

Hmm... Very interesting indeed. If I'm not mistaken with your fighting technique, as a master swordsman you use your strength and KI in order to pull off some of the necessary power behind your moves, yes? Well I think part of the issues is that as a musician I do not have nearly the kind of strength behind my techniques you might have. I still have to be gentle enough to perfectly play the violin and that is quite impossible with overwhelming strength. That's why I sought a completely alternative method of sword fighting where I use music.

I thought that since you shared some of the explanation of your sword technique I'd share some of mine.

Yeah, I mostly take advantage of muscle power. What I really need t'learn about is this "haki" thing, if I'm going to advance further—'specially to fight logia.

Hm...I can see that. Music is more important to you than swords, so that makes sense. That's a pretty crazy technique you have, though, did you come up with that yourself?

Heh, I always appreciate talking shop.

Haki seems to be a very mystical power that I certainly cannot quite understand. I do have a few theories though. One such theory is that Haki is powered by one of the most powerful forces in the universe, love. In almost every instance I've ever seen it used, it was to protect another.

I did indeed create it... ah where to begin? I was at first using Ki to be a sword fighter but I was never quite as physically endowed to be able to use Ki properly. That's why I searched so hard for a way to make an alternative fighting force. I doubt any person who was not well versed in song and the mathematics of the universe would have been able to discover it, but perhaps that's just being presumptuous of me. All movements cause sounds however if one learns to be able to control those sound waves with the right movements you can create a "song" which will give you added strength and power and weaken your foes at the same time. Through my studies of songs I've also been able to figure out which songs are weakening and harmful, and which are strengthening and protective, and I implement it into my fighting techniques. It may be possible for others to learn this technique but I'd imagine you'd be far more powerful with it the better you are at composing and song writing. For instance if you were to attempt this fighting style you may end up causing himself more harm than help. I hope I have enlightened you in some way.

...Love? I dunno, protection, yeah, maybe, but love doesn't always have to do with that. Don't think the Meiou was protecting us from that Light Admiral outta love.

I don't...completely get it, but yeah, that's pretty damn cool. And fucking impressive that you invented it yourself. Heh. Don't think I'll be trying it anytime soon, though; I can be a li'l tone deaf.
