1st Song [video]
[Brook has found himself stuck on a flimsy raft out at sea. He can be seen drinking a cup of tea while seemingly having a tea party for himself.]
Well... the accommodations aren't exactly five star, and it's a little leaky, but at least it seems steerable. Not quite as bad as the last vessel I found myself alone on in the middle of nowhere. Yohohoho!
[Brook keeps fiddling with the journal, not really sure how it works.]
I wonder if anyone shall find me? ... Well! No point in sulking about it, when you're feeling down and alone, you should sing!
When you are refined,
And would like to dine,
There's only one beverage that you need,
When you need a drink,
To bring you back from the brink,
It's the greatest thing indeeeeeed!
This is an ode to tea,
The greatest drink in the land!
Tea is great for snack times,
It is so very grand!
Without tea I'd be lost,
Although I think already am!
So here's an ode to tea,
To help me give a damn!
Yohohoho!
[He seems to be taking notes in his journal on the lyrics... that make no sense]
Hmm... I think that last verse still needs a little work.

Scary?]
No, she banned my devil fruit for -- ah... things.... like that.
[He is never going to stop being flustered.] Th-thanks. That means a lot coming from her nakama. Really. I don't want to give you the wrong impression though... I like her as a best friend too. Not just ah... devil fruits and because she's one of the few women over thirty here. [Well, she IS thirty, but close enough. He means he likes her for more than kinks and sex, gawd.] She really means a lot to me. Even when the Malnosso reverted me to a childhood state, I still snuck out to see her. She's easy to talk to, eh?
Action
That's pretty special too. Even as a kid you wanted to see her, eh? Of course if I were a kid, I'd probably think Nami had the worst kind of cooties, and that Robin was just different. Just a theory, but I can't exactly be sure since I haven't been a kid in practically a century.
I just thought of something. You're a bit of a bird, are you any good at singing?
Action
[Coughs.] Don't worry about it, eh? If it crosses a line, I just won't answer. I just don't want to screw anything up for Robin, and I'm not sure how open she wants to be... I should ask. I definitely will ask her.
[And gosh... yes. Guarded about caring for things? That definitely sounded like Robin. Brook where were you a month ago?] I'd say you're right about her though. But that's why I want to go at her pace as much as I can too. [A small laugh.] Ah sometimes, it's actually really hard. I grew up in a giant family, you know? 1600 of us and all that, so I guess I tend to be a little... much... maybe a little over the top, when I love someone or really like them. [This is a pretty big understatement. For the record.] On the one wing, I don't want to startle her, I'll still always try to match her pace, whatever she's comfortable with, but on the other wing, I still want her to know how much I care, right?
Ah... singing. I'm not sure, actually? I'm told I'm all right, but I'm hardly the musician in my crew. Why, you want to practice a song?
Action
You think it's been a while for you? The only person I can try to talk to about such things is Sanji, and he's just as likely to kick me for thinking about a lady in a way he doesn't like. Honestly, the last time I had a conversation like that had to be... 55 years ago? So if you're feeling rusty, that's alright. I'm probably worse. Yohohoho!
But it is quite understandable. I actually wonder how Robin would react if I asked her such a question... I honestly don't know. She is the least likely of the crew to be outraged by my 'strange' questions... But perhaps it would be best if you broached the subject first.
I guess that's also a bit understandable. You feel like you have to make the extra effort to show how much more special they are than the other 1600 of your siblings, right? That's just a guess, since I also was part of a rather large crew of bards before joining the Straw Hats, so in some respects I can relate. I'm of the opinion that the best way to do it is show how much you care in big ways that are actually subtle.
For instance, doing something crazy and spontaneous like flying her out somewhere for a dinner beneath the stars. But planning ahead of time, so that it will seem more like you were caught out there because it would take too much energy to go back immediately. Perhaps store some nice wine and blankets to store there, that you can say you 'found' there. She'll of course know you set it up, but I think she'll just be able to appreciate the effort at that point. It's something I don't think I could ever pull of personally, but it seems like something that could work for you.
[Brook shakes his head as he realized he was getting carried away with his shipping ways again.]
Ah! That's right, I was thinking of perhaps teaching you to sing her a song. Would you perhaps be interested? It would certainly be a unique experience for me to be able to design a song with a bird in mind.
Action
Exactly! It's really easy to feel lost in the shuffle of a big crew like that, so I always brought Ace soup and things.
[A small laugh.] Actually yeah, I've done something similar as far as dates go. She actually set up our first one, which was a picnic with wine out on the beach. I should start figuring out a third though. Does she like Halloween?
What, wait, really? You would?! That'd be perfect!! When I was little I sang her a song, but I couldn't find anything good enough afterwards! [He drove Ace nuts dragging him to the library to look and trying to come up with the perfect one. And failing.] That'd be a huge help, Brook! Thank you!
Action
[Maybe it has something to do with the PANTIES you numb skull!!!]
Yohohoho! Did she really?! I guess great minds do think alike after all. [For some reason the fact that Robin had the exact idea he'd just suggested did indeed bring a smile to his face.] Well then, I guess you'll need something to top that somehow. As for Halloween... I don't rightly know. I suppose she might, given her morbid sense of humor, but I can make any guarantees about it. She does read a lot, perhaps you can try exchanging spooky stories with her, and see how she reciprocates.
[He really wish he did have some idea about it. Now he's feeling a little guilty that Robin stole his one good idea he'd come up with.]
Leave it to me my fine feathered friend! I shall write you the greatest bird's song ever written... and probably the only bird song ever written. Yohohoho! Did you really sing to her as a kid? That's... kind of cute actually.
Action
So maybe something morbid? Ahhh I'll think of something, thanks.
Eh? A bird song is it... [A small laugh and then shakes his head vehemently!] Oi oi! It wasn't cute!
Action
[Okay, now he's just starting to feel bummed.]
Well if you ever do get stuck on anything, you can feel free to bounce it off me. Maybe I'll be able to help restore my reputation as a good relationship person this way. Yohohoho!
Did you want a different kind of song? Yohohoho! If you say so, but from the perspective of a bipartisan third party, it sounded rather cute to me.
Action
[And Marco gives a small laugh.] Aye, aye, I'll keep it in mind, eh. Hopefully I won't run into too many more problems, but you never know.
Bird songs are fine. The one I sang her was a bird song. It wasn't cute though, eh. Not really romantic either, but definitely not cute.
