Yes and no. It's a myth that the fruit are cursed with the power of a devil. But for all we know their power is from some other form of supernatural entity or something. We know simply that those with the powers of these fruits cannot swim and are weakened by the sea. As such, they are viewed as cursed on a planet that is 90% water.
